This mobile embodies the Haíłzaqv word for March — q̓ṃsísta, meaning “moon tipped over.” Elders say when the moon tilts, the herring will soon return to spawn. It marks the beginning of the seasonal harvest cycle — a time of renewal, abundance, and deep connection to land and sea. This work reflects Haíłzaqv cosmology, where relationships with animal relatives are written in the stars. It invites viewers to witness the beauty of a world where language, art, and ecology are intertwined. Vina explains, "Our ancestors looked up and knew when to gather. Our stories live in the sky."
