CCW | Echos of Celebration earrings

Echoes of Celebration is inspired by my journey to the 'Celebrations' gathering in Juneau, Alaska. There, I was struck by the intricate geometry woven into the edges of button blanket robes. These designs reminded me of nature's own precision, where geometric shapes and lines emerge as patterns in mountains, trees, and even the movement of water. This piece is a tribute to those natural rhythms and cultural expressions.

Crafted from cedar wood, adorned with Mother of Pearl, and finished with traditional dentalium shells, this design holds the spirit of ancestral wealth and beauty. Each triangle, angle, and dot within the piece reflects the shapes and symbols seen in our regalia, honoring the natural resources we hold sacred. Dentalium shells, once used as currency, add a layer of richness and history to this earring, connecting us to a time when these natural elements held both functional and symbolic value.

As I travel, I find joy in observing the parallels and unique distinctions between cultures, and this design captures that sense of shared beauty and respect for nature. "Echoes of Celebration" is a wearable homage to the way our cultures draw strength from the land, showcasing how ancestral art forms and modern expression can beautifully intersect.
